Newsletter March, 2021 — Couple Donates $2 Million for Food Pantry
For the past year, Catholic Charities has worked closely with Peter and Veronica Mallouk, owners of Creative Planning in Overland Park, Kansas. The Mallouk family generously donated $2 million to help launch two new food pantry programs, now officially known as “Lift Up Food Pantries.”

The first of these food pantries – Lift Up Kansas City – began operations just two weeks ago on March 15. For Peter and Veronica, this had been a dream close to their heart. In particular, the Mallouks have a passion for helping those struggling with food insecurity and have long been supporters of other food charities in the area.
“Well established food programs like Harvesters are near and dear to us and we have championed them for a long time,” said Peter. “What excited us about the opportunity to work with Catholic Charities was their willingness and ability to launch new programs that serves families both in urban and rural communities where few resources exist currently.”
Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph serves 27 counties in northwestern Missouri. Because of their support, they were able to spread their passion beyond the urban setting of Kansas City and reach people in rural communities. With their donation, we can provide food to more people, and in this unprecedented time with the pandemic, we feel very blessed and grateful.
Catholic Charities thanks Peter and Veronica for their passion and compassion and appreciates the opportunity to be blessed by their example.
At Catholic Charities of Kansas City- St. Joseph, we are blessed to have many supporters filled with both passion and compassion for our mission and those we serve. To join our mission of “To Serve & To Lift,” make a donation here or contact Whitney at wmeiners@ccharities.com.
