Getting Started
Eligibility Requirements
Our adoption program is open to married couples who meet the following requirements.

Step 1: Married for at least three years at the time of application

Step 2: Between the ages of 25 and 43 at the time of application

Step 3: High school diploma or GED

Step 4: Living within the Kansas City-St. Joseph, Jefferson City, or Springfield dioceses in Missouri
What to Expect
We know the adoption process can feel overwhelming at times. Our team is here to answer questions, provide guidance, and help you understand each step along the way.
Because of the number of families interested in adoption, there may be a waiting period before entering the program. Families on the waitlist will be contacted when an opening becomes available.

How do I begin the adoption process?
Where do I need to live to adopt through Catholic Charities?
You must be living within the Kansas City-St. Joseph, Jefferson City, or Springfield dioceses in Missouri. At this time, we are unable to serve families living in Kansas or eastern Missouri through our adoption program.
What services does Catholic Charities provide?
Is there a waitlist?
Yes. Because of the number of families interested in adoption, there may be a waitlist before entering the program.
Do you provide adoption home studies?
Yes. Home study services may be available for qualifying families and adoption situations.
