Families with children between 1-5 years old, will receive developmental services to increase the child’s social and emotional development, address mental health and behavioral health needs, and receive parenting education.
This complementary intervention and support activities enhances parents ability to ensure their child’s appropriate development throughout all five components of social-emotional learning:
• Responsible decision making
• Relationship skills
• Social awareness
Early intervention in the pre-school years through increased parental knowledge, addressing developmental needs, and stabilizing the family environment, will allow children to enter elementary school better prepared to succeed.
Social Butterflies’ case management will work with families to attain improvement in 3 main areas:
- Providing social-emotional development assessments and activities to increase development in children
- Providing parental support to increase overall knowledge and skills to increase awareness and ability to address developmental needs
- Addressing mental health areas of need in order to increase overall success within the community, at school, and in the home
Services are expected to last 3-6 months, depending on developmental need and progress towards goals.
Topics vary from session to session, but are rooted in Protective Factors:
- Parental resilience
- Social connections
- Knowledge of parenting and child development
- Concrete support
- Social and emotional competence of children
- Mental Health and Behavioral Health
