Press Release: Serve&Lift Center Announces November 7th Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 8001 Longview Road. Catholic Charities is moving our main Kansas City office to Hickman Hills, where the school district reports more than 31% of the children live in poverty, double the state’s average.
KANSAS CITY, MO, September 11, 2024 – Catholic Charities of Kansas City- St. Joseph (CCKCSJ) is pleased to announce the ribbon cutting ceremony for its new community facility, on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at 4:30 PM. The event marks a significant milestone as we expand our mission of providing critical support services, educational programs, and volunteer opportunities uplifting the local community.
Previously, home to St. Matthew’s Church, The Serve & Lift Center, located at 8001 Longview Rd, has been reimagined into an innovative social service focal point including a state-of-the-art client-choice food pantry, educational workshops, and wrap around support programs for individuals and families in need. The center is designed to serve as a hub for community engagement, collaboration, empowerment, and mobile outreach. The site empowers us to logistically serve ten surrounding counties with mobile services. Our Catholic Charities team, along with community partners will join to support the underserved in Hickman Mills, Jackson County, and surrounding counties.
“We are incredibly excited to open the doors of the new Serve&Lift Center and invite the community to join us in this celebration,” said Karen Noel, CEO of CCKCSJ. “This reimagined facility enables us to reach more people, provide essential services, and create a positive impact.”
The ribbon cutting features a short ceremony with remarks from local officials, community leaders, Bishop Johnston, and Catholic Charities representatives. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the new facility, learn more about its services, and enjoy refreshments. This event is open to the public, and all are encouraged to attend and show their support.
