#RunServeLift
The Outpace Poverty 5K Run/Walk is an annual event, this year held on September 30th at Avila University. People of all ages come together to run or walk with the common goal of fighting poverty in our community.
Participants can sign up individually or create teams to fundraise for the event. The team that raises the most money wins an ice cream truck party from One More Scoop. The funds raised from the event will support Catholic Charities’ programs which provide assistance and hope for local families in need.
In addition to the run/walk, there will be yard games, music, live entertainment, and delicious food freshly grilled by the Knights of Columbus of Missouri State Council. It is a great opportunity to have fun while supporting a good cause.
Sonia Campbell, the Community Housing and SSVF Program Manager at Catholic Charities Kansas City – St. Joseph, shares her reason for participating in the event, stating
“My daughter and I try to participate each year, it is a great way to show your support for a good cause and to help those in need. By getting the younger generation involved, you not only get to have a bonding experience with your children, but also teach them compassion, care and what a great feeling it is to help others in their time of need.”
You can join the event by registering yourself or your team at outpacepoverty.com. And don’t forget to share your reasons for participating using #WhyIOutpacePoverty on social media to spread the word and inspire others to join the cause. It’s a wonderful way to make a positive impact and help those in need.
