Our annual Outpace Poverty 5K was a huge success thanks to your endless support. We had a perfect warm and sunny Saturday morning! Not only was it a fantastic day for fellowship, but theperfect opportunity to bring awareness to the increasing rates of poverty in our own communities.

We had an impressive turnout, 356 participants and 50 volunteers, more than doubling participation from last year. Participants young and old gathered for the race, yard games, face painting, snow cones, brats, and hot dogs fresh of the grill from the Knights of Columbus (of Missouri State Council) along with fresh fruit and snacks.

This year we asked participants to bring non- perishable food items to donate to our pantry. Our shelves were bare and needed your help restocking. Together with your generosity, we collected a remarkable total of 2968 pounds of food.

“We all need a little help and hope to go through our lives. There are about 200,000 people in the27-county diocese living under the federal poverty level. We are called to serve them; without your support many would go unserved. Thank you greatly for your participation and support” Karen Noel, CEO of Catholic Charities of Kansas City – St. Joseph said. The funds we raised this year will bless a lot of families in our own neighborhoods.
