Rejoice!
Laetare Sunday, celebrated this year on March 30, 2025, marks the halfway point of Lent—a time to pause, reflect, and rejoice in the progress we’ve made on our Lenten journey. It’s also a great opportunity to check in with yourself, your loved ones, and your faith.

Unlike the festive decorations that mark Advent, Lent tends to be a quieter, more inward season. Perhaps you began this season by proudly wearing ashes on Ash Wednesday, feeling energized by your Lenten promises. But maybe that initial excitement has started to fade. If that’s the case, you’re not alone.

Laetare Sunday reminds us that Lent is not about perfection—it’s about progress and renewal. This is your invitation to revisit and renew your Lenten promises. Take time to reflect: Are your sacrifices and commitments drawing you closer to God? Are they nurturing your relationships with family, friends, and your own heart?

Lent isn’t a checklist, and God certainly isn’t keeping score. What He desires is connection. Are you making space in your life to be a good shepherd—to check in on someone in need, to offer a listening ear, or to extend a simple act of kindness? Sometimes, just letting someone know you care can mean everything.

As we look ahead to Easter, we carry with us the hope of spiritual renewal. Yes, there will be highs and lows in the months to come, but let this season inspire a deeper, more enduring practice of prayer and compassion—in both word and deed.

If you or someone you love could use support, the Parish Mental Health Ministry Calendar is a wonderful resource. The participating parishes are committed to serving all in need, and I’m honored to help share this important work.
