Free Eye Exam, Eyeglasses and Medical Screening Clinic Coming to St. Joseph on April 13th

Let’s commemorate World Health Day by making our community healthier.

KANSAS CITY, MO, APRIL 1, 2024 (Press Release) – In a bid to promote community health and wellbeing, Catholic Charities of Kansas City- St. Joseph is excited to announce a free eyeglass and medical screening clinic to be held in St. Joseph on Saturday, April 13th, 2024. The event will take place at the Pony Express Museum, Community Room located at 914 Penn Street, St Joseph, MO 64503, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. An appointment is needed to be seen, and can be made here: https://catholiccharities-kcsj.org/eyeclinic/

Teaming up with the Lions Club and Rockhurst University: Saint Luke’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences, this clinic aims to provide essential health services to individuals in need within the St. Joseph community. Families facing economic challenges will have the opportunity to receive comprehensive eye examinations conducted by qualified doctors and obtain prescription eyeglasses at no cost. Attendees will have access to free eye exams, free glasses, and free basic medical screening. The medical screening component will include essential health checks such as hearing tests, blood pressure screenings, and blood sugar testing. These screenings are vital for early detection of potential health issues and will be administered by nursing students from Rockhurst University: Saint Luke’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

To further spread goodwill, Catholic Charities has partnered with local parishes to collect unused eyeglasses. These eyeglasses will be cleaned up, labeled with the prescription and will be available for those in need at future Lions Club International events.

Catholic Charities of Kansas City- St. Joseph is committed to fostering community health and believes that access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right for all individuals. By partnering with esteemed organizations like the Lions Club International and Rockhurst University: Saint Luke’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences, we strive to make a positive impact on the lives of those in our community.
