As you consider the heritage you want to leave behind, please consider a legacy gift to Catholic Charities Kansas City-St. Joseph. Your generosity helps us continue to provide vital services to those in need in our community. The question is often asked, “Everyone will leave a legacy—what will yours be?”

Another term for legacy giving is planned giving, where you continually support the work of the Church through your estate. These planned gifts can take many forms. The simplest planned gift to arrange is to make Catholic Charities Kansas City-St. Joseph a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or a retirement account. You can also make a bequest by designating a gift of assets through your will, such as money, stocks, IRAs, valuable art, or even a percentage of the value of your estate. Other planned giving tools, such as charitable gift annuities, can provide income for you and your spouse for life and still provide a gift to the Church after your death.

When you think about what you want to leave behind after you pass away, what comes to mind? Is it your family, your friends, or your community? At Catholic Charities Kansas City-St. Joseph, we believe that everyone deserves a chance to live a life of dignity and purpose. By making a planned gift to Catholic Charities Kansas City-St. Joseph, you can help ensure that your vision becomes a reality for generations to come.

One way you can continue supporting your Church and community long after you are gone is by creating a legacy gift in our Mabee Challenge for our new South Serve and Lift food pantry at 8001 Longview Road, KCMO. This challenge grant from the J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation will help us build out our new food pantry that is repurposing a closed Catholic Church to continue ministry in an otherwise declining South-side Kansas City neighborhood. This location will allow us to better serve those in need in Kansas City and the surrounding communities by addressing food insecurity and other barriers faced by at-risk families. If you choose to include the Serve & Lift food pantry in your estate plans, and document that intent with an email or letter to us, the estimated value of your planned gift will count toward meeting the Mabee Challenge and help unlock an additional $900,000 toward our renovation project.

Your planned gift can help us continue to provide these vital services to those who need them most. By making a gift through your estate plan, you can help ensure that Catholic Charities Kansas City-St. Joseph has the resources it needs to continue to make a difference in human lives in our communities.
