Emergency Assistance

We provide help with life’s basic needs

It’s hard to think about anything else when there is no food in the kitchen, the rent is overdue and you’ve received a cutoff notice from the utility company.

We are here to help.

Meeting life’s basic needs is the first step to stability.

When you’re hungry, without a stable home or can’t pay your utility bills, it’s difficult to move forward. It can literally consume all of your energy every day to just try and meet those very basic human needs. No one seeking assistance is turned away, as our philosophy of service flows from Catholic Social Teaching, which honors the dignity and worth of each person.

Many families qualify for public benefits, but find them difficult to access.

Applying for supports  like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, SNAP, formerly known as Food Stamps; Medicaid and other supports can be daunting.  Welcome Center  staff screens for several types of benefits at once, saving participants from having to travel from office to office applying for benefits separately.

Many Starfish Need Many Star Throwers

The Bible tells us in Matthew 25:35, 40 this is what being a star thrower means. Putting on the heart of Christ means serving the least among us whether hungry or thirsty, help getting over sickness, or in bad situations. Christ did not come to be among the highest in society, but as a lowly servant seeking to save the isolated and cast out. The manger and shepherds were symbols of that, that even the simplest of situations can bring about the greatest of miracles.
