Catholic Charities of Kansas City- St. Joseph Receives Funding for Housing Stability and Eviction Diversion (HSED)

These funds prevent homelessness in our region.


KANSAS CITY, MO, JANUARY 2, 2024 (Press Release) – Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph (CCKCSJ) is honored to announce it has received funding from the partnership of Missouri Housing Development Commission (MHDC) and Housing Stability and Eviction Diversion (HSED), for $160,000.00, which will be used to keep people housed by providing Case Management and Eviction Relief. The funds are available January 1 – December 31, 2024. 

CEO of Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph Karen Noel said, “Helping families remain in stable housing is critical to every aspect of their lives. We are grateful to have this support to offer to those facing eviction.” 

How HSED can help: 

Provide Eviction Relief by helping with payments for rental judgments, security deposits, or utility arrears for those recently evicted or in active eviction proceedings. Provide Case Management by assisting with management of the overall case, including evaluations, individualized housing plans, and referrals to other providers. 

HSED Qualifications: 

One-time payment 

COVID Eviction Relief 

Must live in Kansas City, MO or St. Joseph or any surrounding counties 

Must be currently renting or seeking to rent a residential property in the state of Missouri 

Only eligible for Eviction Relief if they are in active eviction proceedings or experienced an eviction after March 13, 2020
